Why is it important to use chloride-free fertilizers for citrus?

Citrus is one of the most sensitive crops to chlorides. Excess chlorides in the soil or applied fertilizers can cause phytotoxicity, leaf burn, leaf drop and reduced fruit quality. Eight references have measured chloride below the limit of detection (< 0.05 % w/w) by ion chromatography UNE-EN 10304-1 at an ENAC-accredited laboratory. For the rest of the catalogue we publish the figure as each reference is analysed: organic certification does not attest to it.

What does potassium contribute to citrus?

Potassium in citrus improves fruit size, juice content, rind color, transport resistance and post-harvest life. Ecoganic K-FLOW 20 provides potassium in fluid form and without chlorides, ideal for fertigation.

Are they certified for organic citrus with PDO/PGI?

Yes. Ecoganic CE 2018/848 certified products are suitable for certified organic production, including crops with protected designations of origin and geographical indications.

Why chloride matters in citrus

Citrus is one of the crops where chloride sensitivity shapes management from planting onwards: the ability to exclude the chloride ion is a recognised rootstock selection criterion. Chloride accumulates at the leaf margin, competes with nitrate uptake and raises soil solution conductivity — which is what ends up limiting fruit size.

Ecoganic fertilizers and biostimulants add no chloride and no sodium, because they start from bioreactor-grown freshwater microalgae rather than marine seaweed. That is a fact of composition, not a promised outcome.
