Why can't avocado receive chloride fertilizers?

Avocado has extremely low tolerance to chlorides (less than 7 meq/L of Cl in the soil saturation extract). Using fertilizers with potassium chloride (KCl) causes leaf burn, tip necrosis and premature fruit drop. All Ecoganic products are 100% chloride-free.
When is nutrition most critical in avocado?

Critical moments are: flower induction (late summer/autumn), flowering (spring), fruit set and bulking. Post-harvest is also important to replenish tree reserves for the next flowering.
Can drip fertigation be used in avocado?
