Organic agricultural biostimulants
Ecoganic biostimulants are formulated from freshwater unicellular algae extracts (Chlorella) and plant-origin amino acids. They are not fertilizers: they work by improving the plant's efficiency to absorb and use nutrients already available in the soil and fertilization program.
What is the difference between a biostimulant and a fertilizer?
A fertilizer supplies nutrients the plant needs but doesn't have available (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium…). A biostimulant doesn't supply nutrients directly: it acts on the plant's physiological processes to make it more efficient at absorbing and using nutrients already present in the soil or applied through fertigation. They can—and should—be used together.
Ecoganic Technology
Freshwater unicellular algae — salt-free, chloride-free
Unlike marine algae, Ecoganic extracts are obtained from algae grown in fresh water. This eliminates salt input to the soil and guarantees a higher, more consistent concentration of active biostimulants.

Freshwater microalgae vs. marine algae
Freshwater unicellular microalgae technology
Ecoganic biostimulants are made from Chlorella and other unicellular microalgae grown in fresh water, not in the sea. This distinction is technically relevant: marine algae contain salts and chlorides which, accumulated in the soil, negatively affect sensitive crops such as avocado, blueberry or asparagus.
Because they are grown in fresh water, Ecoganic extracts are free of sodium and chlorides. They are 100% cold-soluble and compatible with drip fertigation without clogging risk or salt accumulation.
The active compounds in these microalgae—betaines, cytokinins, alginic acid, mannitol—act directly on stomatal opening mechanisms, cell elongation and osmotic stress resistance. The result is a plant that better absorbs nutrients already present in the soil, not one that receives more nutrients from outside.
Betaínas / Betaines
apertura estomática / stomatal opening
Citoquininas / Cytokinins
división celular / cell division
Mannitol
estrés osmótico / osmotic stress
Ác. Algínico
retención agua / water retention
Crop programs
Each crop has a critical phenological window where biostimulants generate the greatest impact. Ecoganic programs are designed phase by phase.
When to apply a biostimulant?
- ▸Transplanting and rooting — to accelerate establishment
- ▸Bud break and flowering — to stimulate vegetative development
- ▸Water or thermal stress — to improve recovery
- ▸Fruit set and bulking — to increase uniformity
- ▸Post-harvest tree care — to strengthen reserves before winter
- ▸As a complement to any organic fertilization program
How are they applied?
- ✓Foliar: early morning or late afternoon, avoiding direct sun
- ✓Drip fertigation: directly in the fertigation tank
- ✓Compatible with most fertilizers and crop protection products
- ✓Always check compatibility before mixing in the same spray
- ✓Consult the technical sheet for crop-specific doses
