Organic fertilization program for almond

Complete organic fertilization program for almond based on BBCH phenological stages. Early bloom and fruit set are the most critical phases: almond blooms before the soil is active, making foliar nutrition at bud break indispensable.

All listed products are certified CE 2018/848, NOP USDA and JAS — suitable for certified organic production

FAQs about organic almond fertilization

Why does almond need fertilization before bloom?

+

Almond blooms very early (January-March depending on variety and location) before the soil is sufficiently active to release nutrients through mineralization. For this reason, bud swell fertilization, applied foliarly when buds start to swell, is especially critical: the tree depends almost exclusively on its reserves and external supply to sustain flowering and initial fruit set.

What is the main limiting nutrient in organic almond?

+

Nitrogen and calcium are the two most critical nutrients in almond. Nitrogen determines the quantity and quality of flowers, fruit set rate and kernel filling. Calcium is decisive for cell wall resistance in young fruit — its deficiency causes premature fruit drop at set. CALCIUM 40 application at bloom-set is especially effective in almonds on calcareous soils where soil calcium has low solubility.

Can Ecoganic products be used in deficit-irrigated almond?

+

Yes. Ecoganic products are especially suitable for deficit-irrigated almonds because they contain no chlorides or sodium that increase soil salinity with repeated applications. NITROTECH 2.5 and K-FLOW 20 are 100% soluble and easily dosed in drip irrigation systems. In rainfed almond without irrigation, concentrate applications in the two weeks before each expected rainfall or spot irrigation.
