Organic fertilization program for cereals

Complete organic fertilization program for wheat, barley, oats and rye based on BBCH phenological stages. Tillering and stem elongation are the critical phases where nitrogen nutrition determines the number of ears and final grain weight.

All listed products are certified CE 2018/848, NOP USDA and JAS — suitable for certified organic production

FAQs about organic cereal fertilization

How many nitrogen applications do organic cereals need?

+

Organic winter cereals typically need 2-3 nitrogen applications: one at pre-sowing or emergence, one at tillering (most critical phase) and a third at stem elongation as a top-dressing. NITROTECH 16 at tillering and NITROTECH 2.5 as top-dressing can structure an efficient program for organic wheat, barley and oats.

When is fertilization most important in wheat and barley?

+

Tillering (BBCH 21-29) is the most critical phase in cereals: it is when the number of ears per plant is defined. Good nitrogen nutrition at tillering can increase the number of fertile ears by 20-30%. Stem elongation is the second key window to consolidate production.

Can Ecoganic products be used in cereals under contract with flour or malt industry?

+

Yes. All Ecoganic products are certified CE 2018/848 and leave no residues on the grain. They are suitable for organic cereals destined for flour, as well as organic malting barley. They do not interfere with protein parameters or the falling number in bread wheat.
